German car manufacturer Daimler is working on a project on building a car that uses hydrogen as fuel.
Technology has a low environmental impact and the car to be launched in 2015. "The price of this vehicle would be close to that of a diesel hybrid model," said Herbert Kohler, Daimler's research director.
To move to mass production of such vehicles, Daimler must reduce the amount of platinum, about 60 grams, needed to build this engine.
Thus, until the launch of the company intends to use to reach approximately 10 grams of platinum in each engine.
Vehicles using fuel cell technology competitive with that of hybrid cars, emitting only water and heat.
