Bangkok residents flee as floods threaten to overwhelm capital

Mass evacuation as authorities fear crocodiles from outlying areas may have arrived in the city's swollen watercourses.Residents of Bangkok are bracing themselves for peak tides that threaten to overwhelm Thailand's capital with flood water. Many have fled to beach resorts unaffected by the country's worst flooding in half a century but those who remain face a shortage of bottled water and unconfirmed reports that crocodiles from outlying areas may have arrived in the city's swollen watercourses."We are hearing disturbing reports of dangerous animals such as snakes and crocodiles appearing in the floodwaters and every day we see children playing in the water, bathing or wading through it trying to make their way to dry ground," said Annie Bodmer-Roy, spokeswoman for Save the Children.Supermarkets are racing to import crates of bottled water because most plants supplying the city of 12 million people are located in central provinces, some of which are under two metres of water. In the absence of water, crates of beer have filled swaths of empty shelf space in shops.
Flood walls protecting much of Bangkok's inner-city areas are 2.5 metres (8ft) high and Saturday's high tide is expected to reach 2.6 metres.

Friday's morning high tide passed without a major breach, but the waters briefly touched riverside areas closer to the city's central business districts of Silom and Sathorn.
"It is clear that although the high tides haven't reached 2.5 metres, it was high enough to prolong the suffering of those living outside the flood walls and to threaten those living behind deteriorating walls," said the Bangkok governor, Sukhumbhand Paribatra.
Seven of Bangkok's 50 districts in the northern outskirts are heavily flooded, and residents have fled aboard bamboo rafts and army trucks and by wading in waist-deep water. Eight other districts have seen less serious flooding.
Hotels are packed in beach resorts such as Pattaya, where there is an uneasy balance between recreation and concern for the capital's fate with holidaymakers gathering around TV news bulletins, Bodmer-Roy said.
Almost 400 people have been killed in the nationwide floods, which began in July. The government has warned that Thailand may lose a quarter of its main rice crop, which could increase prices from the world's top exporter of the grain.
"The 6m tonnes damage [to the rice paddy] is just an initial estimate.
We need to conduct a survey again after flood water recedes," Apichart Jongsakul, head of the Office of Agriculture Economy, told Reuters.

2010: Nostradamus has predicted World War III in 2010?

According to astrologers and prophets, next year at the Yellow Metal Tiger will not be easy. Nostradamus predictions analysts talk about a virgin whose mysterious death is desired about a leader "ruthless and bloodthirsty, who will lead the" sword and fire.

Pavel Globa, a Russian astrologer famous, believes that 2010 will be an easy year for Russia, but Europe and the U.S. should expect an economic downturn even more pronounced.

Researchers believe that the writings of Nostradamus predictions for proper next year are found in the quatrain in which the tenth of the tenth belt.

The passage mentions, besides virgin mysterious leader and bringer of destruction, and "Ark of the anger of Satan" and the analysts she think this might refer to a ballistic missile.

Famous specialists in the study's belt Nostradamus think of it as catrenes announces the following events for 2010:

- Start of the possible Third World War in November, in which bacteriological and chemical weapons would be employed
- There will be conflicts between European and U.S. West
- Isca be a conflict between Britain and France
- There is the possibility of an armed military conflict in Crimea.
- Europe will suffer an economic nose dive
- Black Sea will be a disaster, involving hydrogen sulphide
.

No economic crisis will not pass. Some of the most famous astrologers predicted that economic problems will worsen in 2010 and many large companies will declare bankruptcy.

This will lead to famine, ethnic and religious conflicts and environmental problems.

Global warming will damage crops and massive armed conflict is possible in Central Asia.

Russia will be affected by a wave of earthquakes, one of which will destroy a huge building.

Many cataclysms will occur and the United States. On November 11, 2010, will have triggered a war between two big countries, and only those who will hide in the East or the Caucasus will survive.

Four kings are catch in such a battle broke out and the third war of the world, say the interpreters mysterious quatrains.

THE PLANET WILL WARM BY 4 DEGREES OVER THE NEXT 50 YEARS

British scientists say that Earth's average temperature will rise by 4 degrees Celsius by 2060.

The study, conducted by the Met Office, the use of fossil fuels predictions that reflect the trend of the past 20 years, but new models that take into account the absorption of carbon dioxide by oceans and forests.

Results were presented at a conference at Oxford University: the best case, the temperature will rise 4 degrees by 2070, with a possibility this would happen by 2060.

Richard Betts of the Met Office Hadley Center said he was shocked by such heating will take place in a lifetime.

"If emissions of greenhouse gases are not reduced now, we will see huge changes in climate during our lives," said Betts.

"Four degrees average warming means that in some parts of the world will be much warmer than that, and rainfall will change also," said researcher.

Pollution will increase by 40% by 2030

A study conducted by the United States government has concluded that carbon pollution will increase by nearly 40% by 2030, mainly due to India and China.
In this study, conducted by the Administration on the Energy Information (EIA), the economies of developing countries of these will prove a great threat to the atmosphere which, moreover, gives signs of exhaustion.

The study envisages an increase in the use of renewable energies, represented by Hydro, solar or wind power, but at the same time, growing demand will push people to use energy and classic, with high carbon emissions: oil and coal.

Those from EIA emphasized that their analysis is based on laws in effect on carbon emissions and not on future decisions of law or treaties that could reduce energy use classic.

The U.S. Congress is considering legislation to achieve a reduction in emissions by 17% by 2020 and over 80% in the middle of this century.

An international conference is scheduled for December in order to achieve a treaty that would reduce these emissions.

Sydney could die of heat in the summer of 2060

According to information brought to public attention by the press agency Reuters, the year 2060 could be meant as a black Australian city to Sydney. Due to global warming and smog, the summer of stated could be a hot, polluted and deadly.

On Tuesday, March 24, held Greenhouse 2009 conference, with the major theme of climate change. In the latter, Martin Cope, a researcher at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO), drew attention to increasing temperatures during the summer, a phenomenon caused by global warming, but the smog and drought. The effects will be felt faster the older population, but also those persons who suffer from asthma or heart disease. The investigator has explained that the number of persons hospitalized with respiratory problems are will triple.

"There will be more hot days and nights and an aging population. It is certainly something that we want to plan ahead ', said Cope. He added that to change these predictions in the right direction, Australians need to understand that life and the industry must change and be based on the reduction of carbon. Researchers have used to study computer models, by which were made weather forecasts, thus testing the effects of average temperature increase of 1 to 4 degrees Celsius.

Thus, the number of days in which temperatures would pass 30 degrees Celsius would increase by 20%, but the days with extreme temperatures, ie over 40 degrees Celsius, would increase by 100%. Results show that this increase in temperatures will lead to increased pollution of air, sand storms and fire.

Cope stressed that the most toxic emissions are dependent on temperature, because with things as heat, are issued with both becoming more gas liquids. The conclusion of researchers and the message is clear: the need to act against pollution! The first step recommended by Cole would reduce carbon beneficial measure to reduce air pollution.

China, choking dust

Clouds of yellow dust and sand have covered today in the northern regions and north-west China have caused ambuteiaje and breathing difficulties for people, announced the meteorological office.
"This sixth sandstorm crossing north of our country is the strongest this year, announced the weather in China. Visibility dropped to less than 100 meters in some regions. Many highways were closed and some flights were canceled. Local health authorities have asked people not to leave the house. Scientists said that sand storms in China have multiplied due to intense deforestation.

SWINE INFLUENZA...SYMTOMPS...GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS...THE VIRUS AH1N1

Swine influenza virus AH1N1 involved in this epidemic has not been detected before in people or pigs. The virus contains genes from human viruses, avian and prcine in a combination was not identified until now.The virus isolated until now has been sensitive to OSELTAMIVIR, but resistant to AMANTADINA and OMANTADINA.

Symptoms of swine influenza in humans are similar to seasonal flu symptoms are:
-fever (37.8) with sudden onset
-respiratory symptoms, cough and / or rhinorrhoea
-headache
-muscle pain
-shiver
-fatigue
-diarrhea and / or vomiting, symptoms that are not typical seasonal flu, but have been recorded in some recent cases of swine flu.

Until now no vaccine to protect people against this respiratory infection. Seasonal influenza vaccine offers no protection against swine influenza in humans.

General Recommendations
-avoid near contact with sick people.
-keeping rules of individual hygiene: frequent washing of hands, use the personal handkerchief in case of sneezing and coughing, which fall after use.
-congestion avoidance
-ventilation of rooms and jobs
-presentation to a GP at the first signs of disease and avoid the self, especially the use of antibiotics without medical advice.
-proper nutrition, including fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins.
-in case of occurrence of an acute respiratory disease fever, you do the following things: home insulation, wear a mask to cover both mouth and nose (including home), announcing the immediate family doctor, in case doctor can not be contacted, the patient will be presented to the emergency room of a guard unit for infectious diseases (hospital for infectious diseases, division of infectious diseases).

The glaciers come off to the Ice Cap Wilkins

More iceberguri began to leave the great ice age Calota Wilkins, following broke, from the beginning of April, a bridge connecting the Antarctic ice to Charcot Island, announced today, Tuesday, European Space Agency (ESA).
“Imaginile din satelit arata ca icebergurile au inceput sa se desprinda din partea de nord a calotei glaciare Wilkins, evidentiind faptul ca aceasta placa imensa a inceput sa devina instabila”, precizeaza ESA intr-un comunicat, citat de AFP.

Data from satellites show that the first iceberguri began to leave the Calota on April 24. ESA estimates that, until now, have been lost in the 700 km2 Calota Wilkins, whose total area is 16,000 km2.

"Eight glacial plates which are of the Antarctic Peninsula over gave signs of attenuation during recent decades. Not fit doubt that these changes have the Climatic warming due to the Antarctic Peninsula, which was the fastest in the southern hemisphere, "explained David Vaughan of British Antarctic Survey, quoted by the ESA.

Researchers have shown that arctic surface ice field reached its lowest level in September 2007, when he recorded only 4.13 million km2, and its thickness increasingly makes little more vulnerable to rapid melting. Each increase of one meter sea level will cause 100 million "climate refugees".

Among the long-term actions to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, the conference participants from Tromso have identified a series of quick actions to slow melting ice. They aim at reducing other pollutants such as soot, which, together with fine particles, is transported to the Arctic wind, which deposited on the lid and increase their capacity to absorb solar energy.

Animals of Galapagos, about extinction

Unique species of animals living in the Galapagos Islands, such as penguins, seals, iguana and birds that inoata not fly, are threatened because of climate change.
Animals and plants in this area could be faced with numerous threats due to the emergence of new species of animals that have changed because of habitat or climate changes because of the emergence of new diseases, to decline the amount of food and water to increase . "If we want unique biodiversity of the Galapagos in the future there will be a help to adapt to climate change," said Emily Pidgeon, from Conservation International, who organized the workshop on the impact of global warming on biodiversity in the Pacific Islands . Galapagos Islands, located about 1000 kilometers away from the coast of South America, are volcanic islands, and home to many species of animals. One of the most affected foca with fur, which may be endangered if the number of fish declines, these are the main source of food. Of Galapagos penguins could be forced to find new places in which to forbid the predators, because they need space in which to lay eggs and defend itself and the sun. And recifele of corals are in danger, being affected by climate change and acid rain, while heating water fishes in the Pacific cause to change their habitat north towards Galapagos archipelago. Iguanele of Galapagos could face the death penalty, while the cormorant may face floods that destroy nests.

Sparkling River

You have to believe that is true, a river water in England and it is in the river Irk Middleton, turned into foam, thanks to chemical discharges from a factory producing soap. This incident resulted in the death rates of fish and wild have been affected, too evil and flora has been affected.

Currently working to establish the cause.
